3 things you may learn from just simply Listening!

We just had our newest little addition, Priscilla Faith on July 7th. Yes, we now have 3 girls, My husband is one lucky guy! haha!thankful

From breastfeeding, getting as much sleep in when I can, Keeping my cool when the 19 month old argues with the 8 year old or let’s say the 8 year old argues with the 1 year old… life has been different in the last 2 months.

I honestly can say I have become that Full Time Mom I have always dreamed of. I honestly thought I had a lot on my plate when I was a single mom to my oldest and only one.

Yes I did have a lot on my plate and it’s just a new list of a lot on my plate this time around.

I really want to acknowledge ALL moms. We have so much going on, if we are stay at home moms, working moms, work from home moms, step moms, grandmas that are moms… I mean the list can go on and on.

In the last 2 months, I have learned how to really LISTEN! My 8 year old has so much on her mind, especially as she starts school and to top it off she is such a strong willed child. Everything she has to say is important! I mean really important. She loves to lead and tell the 19 month old what to do and well I’m starting to see a lot of strong willed in my 19 month old, maybe because she is starting to talk and communicate what she wants she also has a lot to share and want right at the VERY moment! Oh and this little one month old she may not talk but she sure likes to communicate when she is hungry and made a massive explosion in her diaper! ((it’s the best when they decide to do their business in the middle of Target and then you find out you packed 3 pairs of pants and not an extra onesie lol))

Keeping our cool, sanity, and so on with a newborn and 2 other beings is tough. I really haven’t had much of a break, maybe a good 10-15 min to myself and in those minutes I try to get as much as done and nap. As the weeks passed by I saw that Yes I was trying to get nap in and all the other “things” in, I forgot to have some time with God, worship, reading, and devotional time. In the last week or so I have noticed how significantly different my listening to my kids and listening to God has been. It’s been a lot more manageable! Oh yes my sanity is back, I truly got it… the secret to my sanity is my time with God.

Thru this time I was able to discover my parenting verse, Isaiah 40:11 (NIV) 11 He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.

So what’s the point to all of this, well

Listening to our kids will really allow us to see how much wisdom they truly have. We actually will learn a lot from it.
Listening to nothing for a few minutes is actually, OK
and not forgetting to fill our cup and listen to God is the most important! Otherwise our sanity will be GONE!
SOOO I invite you to listen, share what you experience with God, kids, or if you need to take a moment to listen to NOTHING, that’s fine too… remember we all need a few minutes of silence.

Light and Love,
