A letter to my daughter who is Starting Kindergarten

lunchIn a few short weeks, my daughter will be starting Kindergarten. It’s hard to believe that my baby girl is now a five year old. I know she is prepared and will do great! This is an open letter I would like to share:
Dear Sophie,

You are growing so fast and now we approach your first day of Kindergarten. It seems like yesterday I was holding you in the hospital. Now you are five! I remember watching you take your first steps and soon you will walk into a big school as a Kindergartener. You cried when I dropped you off on your first day of preschool. I hope you don’t cry this time, but I might!

I know when I drop you off; it’s the start of a new journey. You will learn so much and make me proud. You will be writing and reading. You will make lots of new friends. Sophie, school will be awesome!

I will miss you during the day, but I know it’s time to let you go. I can’t wait to pick you up and here all about your day. I excited for the time when you can read a book to me. You are sweet, sassy and smart. I know you will do just fine!

So, while I’m home with your brother, I hope you are doing great in school. The house will be quieter, the rooms emptier. I will be happier, knowing that you are taking the next step and growing up! Just think, I will be there waiting when you get out of school. I will always be there for you!
