Family Time!

by Blog Director: Sandra Pascal

Life can get so busy and chaotic. It’s easy not to spend quality time with our spouse and kids. My husband and I try to set aside at least one day a week when we all spend time together. It used to be Wednesdayfamily-fun s but recently we have changed it to Sundays due to our work schedules.

I can’t express how important it is to put the cell phones away and just spend time with your spouse and kids. I truly believe that time is precious.
It brings us closer together and we have a great time.
It can be a movie day,
hiking,
swimming
or sometimes we don’t leave the house.
It doesn’t matter where we go, all that matters is that we are together. Once in a while we will skip a week or two and we can see the difference in our communication and intimacy. We tend to get lost in the shuffle of life. In my case I take my husband for granted. He is not a machine. I’m not a machine.  We are humans and we need to be together and just hang out.
I also recommend that parents spend alone time with their children individually.
For example, my husband and I will take one of the kids out on a date.
We get some ice cream,
go to the library.
Ifamtimet’s really important to have some one on one time with each child. I know that my kids really enjoy this when we do it. They feel special.
Now as far as my husband and I spending alone time… lol! We are working on that. One mission at a time captain. I know that we need to be alone, however, it’s not easy to find a sitter and our families live far away. Once in a blue moon we do get some alone time. I love it so much.
Time in general is flying by, our kids are 5 and 3 and it seems like yesterday that they were infants. We don’t want to wake up one day and regret not having spent more time with them. Everyone is always telling me that before we know it they will be in High School. I can’t even imagine!
Please spend time as a family. Those memories will last a lifetime and create an amazing bond. I believe that this sacred time that you spend together will detour any ill will or bad influences in our kids lives.
I look forward to hearing your feedback on this post and if you have some ideas of fun activities for families, please don’t hesitate to share them! We can use some suggestions!
Now go make plans for a fun family day!
xoxo
